Helping children to enjoy and achieve
We help children to achieve their full potential, become happier and more positive about school and be able to learn and play in fun, safe and stimulating environment. We are funding organisations, which provide play and out-of-school activities, where all children and young people, including those with a disability or special need can develop their capabilities and play with other children in the local area.
Lambeth Play Association (LPA)
Lambeth Play Association (LPA) aims to enable the most disadvantaged children such as children with disabilities, from black and minority ethnic or refugee communities, young carers or those who are living in temporary housing to access sports, arts and play provisions.
The project will carry out outreach work across the borough to reach individual families and ensure the most disadvantaged and isolated children are able to participate in wider play activities.
Other services:
Lambeth Play Association promotes co-operation and partnership working between different sectors in the borough for the benefit of children’s play, provides free training support and assistance with funding applications and offers free use of resources library and equipment to members.

Oasis Children's Venture – Children’s Nature Garden
Oasis Children's Venture – Children’s Nature Garden provides environmental education and play to children and young people in Lambeth. It enables those children who do not have access to a safe green space to explore the natural world around them and learn about the wild life and environment. The project provides after school activities, Saturday clubs, summer play schemes, trips and outings, all of which are focused on the environmental theme; gardening, wildlife, recycling and healthy diet.

Springfield Community Flat
Also funded under the Being Healthy theme.
Springfield Community Flat is a grass roots organisation providing a broad range of support to hard to reach local communities. It acts as a family centre for vulnerable families, providing casework and counselling, assistance with placing a child in school, breakfast clubs, playschemes and after school clubs. All activities are designed to provide plenty of sport activities and encourage healthy life styles.
Other services:
ESOL classes with crèche attached, parent, carer and toddler groups at Springfield and Christchurch estates, parenting skills workshops, adventure playground, Youth clubs, depression support group, help for refugees and asylum seekers and senior citizen group.

The service takes referrals from agencies as well as self-referrals from the individual families.

St Martin’s Community Partnership
St Martin’s Community Partnership provides recreational and sporting activities for young people on St Martin’s estate. The activities include football, basketball, bike riding, art workshops and take place on and away from the estate. Young people are encouraged to get involved in planning the programme. The activities are delivered during the school terms and school holidays.
Other services:
General housing support to the residents on St Martin’s Estate, help to vulnerable residents in the area, annual job fairs, resident led youth club and senior citizens club.

Triangle Adventure Playground Association
The Triangle Adventure Playground Association provides supervised out-of-school play facilities for young people in Kennington's Oval Ward. The playground’s activities are designed to help children develop personal and social skills through creative interaction in play. Playground users have a chance to get involved in an ongoing programme of extensive refurbishment, helping with the installation of the new play facilities. The Playground is currently open on Saturdays and throughout school holidays. The service is shortly to be expanded to include term-time weekday openings.

Occasional trips off-site, exchange visits with other Lambeth playgrounds.

Charlie Chaplin Adventure Playground
Charlie Chaplin Adventure Playground provides play activities for disabled children, their brothers and sisters and children in the local community. A large landscaped outdoor play area and welcoming indoor areas encourage children to explore and expand their own skills through creative play. The project provides a wide programme of outdoor and indoor activities, Saturday Club and trips.
Other services:
After-school clubs, school holiday playschemes, and daytime provision for visiting groups from special schools.

Lambeth Family Link
Lambeth Family Link provides respite for children with disabilities. It also offers short breaks for families with disabled children, respite trips during half term breaks, summer play scheme, and Easter playscheme. Other activities include Saturday clubs, teenage clubs, after school club and small group linking. The project is an equal opportunity provider and offers services to all qualifying sections of the community.

Family support and advocacy, a parent support group with crèche facilities and the clubs for over 19’s.

Brixton St Vincent’s Community Centre
Brixton St Vincent’s Community Centre runs a Saturday Arts Club with activities such as drama workshops, indoor football, circus skills, uni cycling, juggling and rolla bolla, arts workshops, air brushing, bicycle art or face painting. The activities encourage social cohesion, confidence and a sense of achievement with a creative and challenging programme.

Contact a family offers support and information to families caring for a child or young person with a disability or special need. The organisation provides October half-term residential family short break.
Other services:
A range of family support activities, summer playschemes, Saturday Clubs, family day trips and short breaks, individual family support, parent workshops and training, retreat weekends, opportunities to link with other families, support and advice around all aspects of disability and caring for the child.

Slade Gardens Adventure Playground
Slade Gardens Adventure Playground provides play activities for children from diverse communities within Vassal Ward. The playground aims to provide the opportunities to children and young people that would not normally be offered to them, such as outings to the climbing wall, indoor ski slopes and mountain biking. The project encourages children with specific needs such as autism and cerebral palsy to participate in the life of the adventure playground and a wide range of activities.

National Autistic Society
National Autistic Society helps children and young people with autism to develop play, social and communication skills through weekly drama therapy sessions.
Sessions incorporate individual needs and train children and young people to express feelings and emotional needs, develop relationship skills and body awareness through fun and exciting activities.
Other services:
The organisation works in partnership with government, local authorities and other organisations to develop projects that support children and young people with autism and their families in their local areas. It endeavours to raise professional and public awareness of the needs of people with autism, their families and carers and ensure adequate funding for services.

Volunteer Reading Help
Volunteer Reading Help recruits and trains volunteers to work in primary schools with children aged 6-11 years old who find reading a challenge and may need extra support and mentoring. The main target group for this project are children at most risk of dropping out of school. All sessions are child-led and are designed to engage the children’s interest in books in fun and relaxed environment. The project looks for volunteers to give a commitment of at least one academic year.

Whippersnappers
Whippersnappers provide a diverse, cultural platform from which children of all needs and backgrounds can express and educate themselves through music, sports and arts. Activities include workshops in music, dance, art, theatre and performance. The project takes children and young people out of their urban environment and brings them to green open spaces. Whippersnappers has recently qualified for "The Get Together" project supported by Mencap and Blue Peter to help more children with special needs to access mainstream out of school play activities. LCF are part funding Whippersnapper’s sports and arts club for 8 – 13 year olds.

Cross generational activities in music, sports and the art, urban music and art projects for disadvantaged, entertainment for fun days including live music, acrobatics, story telling, stilt walking, poi, drumming and martial art displays.

Playout & Woodcraft Folk
Playout & Woodcraft Folk is a mobile play service offering play activities to children and young people on local estates and parks and open spaces, specifically targeting areas with poor play facilities. The project provides social education including behaviour management and conflict resolution through sports, games, arts music and healthy living programmes and it enables young people to experience a different approach to play and leisure time.
Other services:
Street dance and healthy living juice making workshops. Woodcraft Folk provide camping opportunities and residential camps during the summer holiday period.

Referrals are taken from parents and other organizations that are looking for play opportunities during holiday time for children from ages 5-13+.

Oasis Trust Primary Transition Project
Oasis Trust supports vulnerable children as they make the transition from primary to secondary school. The project runs one-to-one or small group sessions that focus on preparing young people practically for the changes at secondary school. Sessions cover particular issues such as “Finding your way round secondary school”, “Homework”, “Packing your school bag“, “Authority figures” ,“Friends”, “Goal setting”, “Anger management”, “Self-esteem”, and “Choices”. The activities help children to gain a more positive attitude towards themselves and learning and enable them to participate more fully in school life.

Lambeth Playcare Trust

Lambeth Playcare Trust provides play and leisure activities for children and young people with an aim to promote their physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Services include after schools and holiday activities; a football club, cookery workshops, arts and crafts activities, a homework club, swimming, ice skating, cricket, basketball, outings and trips.

Latin School of Culture Arts and Languages (LASCAL)
Latin School of Culture Arts and Languages (LASCAL) aims to encourage social inclusion amongst the local Latin American community, often of asylum seeker or refugee status, through educational, cultural and social learning opportunities. LASCAL offers classes in the mother tongue, music, dance, arts and crafts and family football. Out of school educational and cultural activities allow young people to share their cultural heritage with members of other communities, which helps them to build their confidence and self-esteem.
