Children's Fund Projects > Positive Contribution

Helping children to make a positive contribution

Image of a positive childWe help children to develop social and life skills to positively deal with any challenges in life. We support families so that they are able to provide safe and stable homes for their children and have a positive impact on their child’s achievements in life. Helping children to make a positive contribution also means that we want to encourage young people to voice their views and opinions and give them the opportunity to get involved in planning and developing services they receive.

Lambeth Youth Council/The peer inspection project

The junior peer inspection project provides activity-based support for children and young people age 8-13 years old to promote their involvement in the evaluation and development of services. The project trains children and young people to carry out inspections and evaluations, initially of all the Children’s Fund projects with a possibility of expanding across a wider range of children’s services in Lambeth.

Other services:

Peer Inspection – young people (14-21) inspect local provisions and say how services to young people could be improved.

Peer Education – educates other young people and practitioners on issues around sexual health, relationships and substance misuse.

Youth Council – young people identify issues that affect them within the borough, lobby decision-makers and recommend projects to help tackle these issues.
