In the Spirit of our Ancestors – Poetry competition for 13 –24 years olds, judged in three groups, 300 words. Submit your poem on the theme of the title and your poem could be published on the libraries section of the Lambeth Council website and also be in with the chance to win a £50 prize. Poem: (250 words maximum) Please use additional sheet if applicable.
For further information on the Poetry competition or to submit your entry please email to Tim O’Dell at to’dell@lambeth.gov.uk or hand in to any Lambeth Library by the 19th Oct 07. Don’t forget to include your Name, Age, Address, Phone, and Email. “In the Spirit of our AncestorIn Ancestors” Poetry competition 2007 Terms and Conditions: 1. Poems must be the work of the person submitting the entry and be previously unpublished. 2. Please note that this competition is only open to People aged 13 – 24 years old and should be no more than 250 words. 3. A maximum of 1 entry per person is allowed. 4. The judges' decision is final, and no discussion or correspondence can be entered into on their decision. 5. Work should be submitted to your local Lambeth library or by email to Tim O’Dell at to’dell@Lambeth.gov.uk attaching your name and contact details. 6. The closing date for entries is Friday 19th October. 7. There are 3 prizes of £50.00 available to the winners of the three categories: 13-15 yrs, 16-19yrs & 20-24yrs. Winners will be announced on Monday 22nd October and prizes will be awarded on the evening of Friday 26th October. 8. The winning poems will be published on the London Borough of Lambeth’s website. No fee is offered for publication; however an author’s credit will be published. Friday 26th October – ‘In the Spirit of our Ancestors’ Black History Month Poetry Evening and Awards Ceremony 7pm Nettlefold Hall, Norwood High St. London SE27 9JX Lambeth Libraries and Integrated Youth Services bring you a fantastic evening for the poet within. The evening will be hosted and will present prizes to the winners of the Black History Month Poetry Competition. The event will be rounded off with the African Performance Poet and Storyteller Uzoamaka Okafor-Obi.
