 Children's Fund Contract Extension to September 2008

As you may have heard, there has been an allocation of funding for Children’s Fund like activities by Central Government to Lambeth for a period of 3 years from April 2008.The funding will be linked to the developing priorities of the Local Area Agreement and linked to a number of other funding streams as part of an area based grant to local authorities.

We will be holding a commissioning round in the New Year to commission services for children with additional needs aged 5 to 13 (replacing the Children’s Fund). Pending this, we propose to continue with the existing projects enabling us time to develop specifications and strategic priorities for the new commissioning. Please note that from April, the governance structure will change for your project as the Children’s Fund Partnership Board will no longer oversee the programme. We will communicate any new monitoring requirements we may need in the New Year as well as any changes to payment arrangements.

We may get in touch with individual groups to talk to you about reviewing or the appropriateness of some of the services from April 2008.

Please note this is a provisional decision and we await final approval for it from our internal Commissioning structures, which we will communicate to you as soon as possible. Any further information we get will be posted on the website and communicated to the lead agents.

We are very pleased that it looks likely we will able to continue to work with this crucial age range and carry on and develop from the good work of all Children’s Fund projects. A big thank you for all your hard work over this year and we are looking forward to working with you on the developing new structures and commissioning rounds in the New Year.

We will be having an event at some point in the New Year to reflect on the work of the Fund since 2002 and to share a collection of stories from children and young people on what the projects and the Fund has meant to them.
